Most parts will print flattest side down with no support material, the only exception to that would be the lid themselves, they stand on end when printing. The motor struts do require support material. The side that screws to the hull is the face that goes on the bed. This design uses two of those fans to inflate a skirt. The motor controller is a quad copter unit that has 4 motor controllers integrated into a single board. They do require slightly different programming. I experimented with different infill percentages to cut down on weight of various parts, just remember you sacrifice strength.
