A local kid had an RC car with a broken wheel that needed fixing. Their mom was getting ready to toss it in the trash, but I swooped in and saved the day by taking it apart, figuring out how it worked, and printing a new rim for it using 3D technology. When I searched online for "Land Buster," I saw that lots of other people were looking for one too, but there wasn't anywhere to buy one. If you're stuck with a similar toy that's missing a wheel, this could be just what you need. This project is also useful if you're not a fan of pink rims - you can easily modify the design to fit your personal style. If you're feeling happy about this solution, please like, comment, or share it so others can benefit too! Post-Printing: I discovered that the PLA I used didn't have enough grip on the tire, so I wrapped 2 small rubber bands around the rim where the tire meets. This keeps the tire from spinning out of control. If I ever have to print one of these again, I might scale up the x and y axes a bit to give the tire a better grip without needing rubber bands. How I Designed This: I reverse-engineered this wheel from an existing Land Buster rim and made some tweaks to make it stronger and easier to 3D print. To minimize the need for supports, I angled the exterior edges of the rim at 45 degrees. If you want a clean print, consider adding a bit of support in the center, but it's not necessary - I printed mine without supports and only had to do some minor cleanup afterwards.
