RC Catamaran Boat Designed by MilkNAME8 in GrabCAD. Initial Design 25/08/2019 To scale up the design to 100cm length, I did the following: 1. Cut the hull into 4 pieces and the lid into 2 pieces. 2. Add support columns in the pieces with holes for accurate alignment during gluing. 3. Increase the height at the back of the hull by creating a small aerofoil to accommodate a rudder with a larger base. Update 15/09/2019 To scale up the design to 100cm length, I did the following: 1. Cut the hull into 5 pieces to ensure compatibility with 1Kg filament while printing. 2. Add support columns in the pieces with holes for accurate alignment during gluing. 3. Increase the height at the back of the hull by creating a small aerofoil to accommodate a rudder with a larger base. Printing Progress 15/09/2019 I had already printed the hull5.stl file. 23/09/2019 I printed allignment pins for the hull, both 10mm and 8mm. To avoid drilling holes in the hull, you can scale down the pin to 98% or 97%. I also printed the hull4.stl file. Everything went smoothly, and I tested it with the allignment pins (8mm) connected to the hull5.stl file. 20/11/2019 I finally completed printing the hull and lid. You can see the attached images from the result. I have already sanded the hull and am waiting for carbon fiber fabrics to arrive for reinforcement outside. I have already applied carbon fiber inside, as you can see from the pictures also. The lid is ready, and I have finished with the carbon fiber reinforcement. TIP: I have uploaded two types of lid stl files. The ones with scaled_98 are for a lid scaled down to 98% to fit into the hull if you apply carbon fiber fabric with epoxy resin. Otherwise, you can use the other files which are 100%. Still a WORK IN PROGRESS as I'm still printing, designing, and testing.
