RC Car Truck Wheel Extension 12mm Hex Drive Extender
thingiverse
This is a wheel extension to widen your wheel spacing on your RC car or truck that uses the common 12mm hex drive. This will add an extra 32mm or 40mm width between wheels. After converting my EAT14 (144001) buggy to a truck body, I found the vehicle would roll very easily, especially with the larger diameter wheels. I countered this by widening up the spacing between wheels. Now the truck is far more stable slamming it into turns. I printed these in PETG. So far, Ive been pleasantly surprised how well these have held up. Nothing has broken, stripped, or even loosened yet. There are two pieces to print, an inner hex and an outer sleeve. Both are available in 16mm and 20mm lengths. Step 1 - Thread the inner hex piece onto the CVD axle as tight as you can get while lining up the flats with the existing 12mm hex drive. Step 2 - Slide the sleeve over both the printed AND the original hex drive. This keeps the original and printed hex drives coupled together, so it doesn't unscrew. There is a small detent on the inside of the sleeve that nestles between the printed and original hex drives, but you may want to snug an M3 grub screw in the sleeve hole to keep it in place. Step 3 - Put the wheel on the exposed printed hex drive, and fasten in place with an M3 cap screw and washer. Step 4 - Go rip around outside, full send, test stability. Hopefully it doesn't break. Have fun and enjoy your new wider stance.
