RC airplane wing skid / servo protection
thingiverse
Have you installed servos beneath your flying wing? Are you concerned about safeguarding a bottom-mounted battery pack? Then, all you need are a pair of quick and easy skids to ensure the protection of your delicate components. The skids should measure approximately 25mm from base to top (excluding spikes) and have a thickness of 3.2mm with 2mm thick spikes. Initially, I printed one using single skin layers on the top and bottom, along with 20% infill; however, it wasn't as robust as desired. Subsequently, I printed more with two skin layers on both the top and bottom, and 25% infill, which resulted in a weight of around 2g per skid while maintaining impressive strength. To attach the skids to your foam, create a slit matching the spike dimensions, apply CA or Gorilla glue within the hole and on each spike. Secure the skid in place or use CA/kicker or hot glue as an adhesive to prevent movement during the drying process. And that's it!
