RC Airplane Snow Ski
thingiverse
I built the snow ski that can detach from the snow for flying off into RC airplane adventures. It will work well on electric airplanes with tricycle or tail dragger front wheels, attaching using the same 1/8 in. wire wheel struts. The SKIG file is specifically for the front steering wheel installation. Once printed, you need to heat up the front section of the ski (first inch) and bend it at a 30 degree angle upwards. You will also require a spring to add bounce and keep the ski level during flight. I found springs at my local Home Depot and fitted one to each ski, securing one end around the axle and letting the other end sit straight against the ski about two inches away. Print Settings: Printer: RepRap Printer Brand: Resolution: 2mm Infill: 50% Rafts: No Supports: No I print these using PLA on a glass bed, setting the extruder temperature to 205C and the heated bed at 70C. I use a 1.75mm filament, printing the first layer at .4mm and each subsequent layer at .2mm with four solid layers top and bottom. Post-Printing: Bend Nose After completing the print job, carefully heat up the first inch of the ski and bend it upwards at a 30 degree angle. I Designed This With Passion
