RC Airplane mounting bracket for 1in PVC
thingiverse
I'm seeking a new solution to store my RC airplanes, so I've designed brackets that utilize 1-inch PVC pipe and can be mounted as needed. My go-to material is PLA, and my plan is to hold both foamy aircraft and those in the .40-.60 size range. In the provided images, you'll see a load test I conducted using a 24-inch piece of PVC with a 10-pound weight attached - that exceeded my requirements. The interior hole was initially designed for a 3/8-inch dowel to be epoxied inside, but it ultimately proved unnecessary. The increased layer count actually strengthened both the exterior and interior of the bracket. This design employs schedule 40, 1-inch PVC pipe, which can vary in brand compatibility. I found one brand that fit perfectly, while another was quite difficult to slide onto the bracket. To resolve this issue, I gently heated the PVC with a heat gun and slid it over the mount - just a slight warming was sufficient. The included G-code file was sliced using the original Prusa slicer, and printing time comes out to approximately 9 hours and 18 minutes per pair. The printed weight is roughly 107 grams per pair. To achieve optimal results, use the recommended slicing settings. The additional layers really do add significant strength to the brackets.
