Customizable and Canned RC Motor Mounts --------------------------------------- * Customizable stick motor mounts with configurable thrust angles and an adjustable rectangular motor mount. * Canned motor mounts for an E-Flite Valiant and a Hobby Lobby 3D profile foamie plane. There is no top level customization for these mounts, however the corresponding motor mount .scad files do have customizable parameters and can be run standalone. Motor Mount Descriptions and Notes ---------------------------------- * Customizable stick mounts * X (4-arm) and Y (3-arm) mount options * Up/down and right/left thrust angles can be specified * By default, the X-style stick motor mount fits a Turnigy 2730 1300kv Brushless Motor, "can" diameter ~27.5mm. * By default, the mount tube interior dimensions are 1/4" (6.35mm) square - fits a 1/4" square dowel * The default thrust angle settings are: mm_pusher = true, mm_thrust_angle_up = 5.7 (degrees), mm_thrust_angle_right = 1.0 (degrees) * Adjustable rectangular motor mount * The adjustable motor mount is a rectangular mount with rabbet joints on the edges and with holes at the corners for screws that attach to corner blocks, which are attached to the plane's fuselage. This motor mount can also be glued directly to a rectangular fuselage if the thrust angle does not need to be adjusted. * By default, the corner block hole size is 4.26mm (#8 screw diameter + 0.2mm for clearance) * Note long corner block rendering time for if adj_mm_threaded_hole is set to true (default) * Canned motor mount for a HobbyLobby 3D profile foamie airplane * Dimensioned for an unknown motor type turning a GF 8x4 prop * May be used as a basis for modeling a motor mount for other 3D profile foamie airplanes by adjusting the various customizable motor mount parameters * Canned E-Flite Valiant motor mount adapter for a DYS D2836 BLDC motor * Note viewport changes very slow in preview mode (F5). Render (F6) works around this issue. Customizer Notes ---------------- * The Thingiverse customizer does not work with the included thing SCAD files because the top level customizable-rc-motor-mount.scad includes the other thing files. The Thingiverse customizer does not support includes. * To customize, download all of the thing .scad files into a folder, then open customizable-rc-motor-mount.scad with OpenSCAD. OpenSCAD is downloadable from openscad.org.
