RC Airplane CG Stand
thingiverse
I designed this because the process of balancing an Airplane is annoying to me with tape. This stand works so well for me I wanted to share it. I have balanced 4 of my planes now from large to small. The only parts you need to buy are 2 M6 thumb screws (you might need to run an M6 tap through the balance posts) and some 5/8" dowel rod cut to whatever length you like. (I used 5/8 aluminum because I had it laying around) The holes on the stand moving inward are also 5/8 so you can narrow the stand for twin engines if you need too. The Millimeter marks are accurate and print well enough to read. I printed with light colored PLA and just used a sharpie to highlight. You can obviously paint inside them if you like. Here is how I balance: 1. I set the MM marks to the suggested CG and place my plane on the stand. I move the plane back a MM or two so the wing does not rub on the stops. 2. Once I get the balance close enough to where the plane wont fall off, I move the wing back flush with the stop, place pressure on the plane, loosen the thumb screws, and slide them out of the way for a perfect balance. If this stand helps you out as it did me, please consider kicking me a few bucks :). It all helps. Happy flying! https://paypal.me/dellaterrastudios?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US
