RBA - House 6
thingiverse
A scale model of a house in Western Australia, situated on a flat, narrow site along the coast, features dominant repeated ribs and a front loft space accessible via a spiral stair that echoes timber-framed ships. The project was created using Archicad, where it was divided into small parts to fit the build plate. This also allows the client to disassemble the model and gain a better understanding of the spaces. The components were then cleaned with Netfabb and printed on the Makerbot Replicator 2. Significant amounts of glue and post-production work were required for items such as the external polycarbonate screen, which was not produced by us due to obscure plastic issues. Additional work included the louvres, internal ground floor stair, and fitting a battery into the hollow roof section on the upper floor for the light source. Despite the necessary post-production effort, the final model turned out very well. Model photographs were taken by photographer Tim Lofthouse at http://www.lofthouse.com.au/1.html.
