RB1 and RBB Back Plate upgrade system

RB1 and RBB Back Plate upgrade system

thingiverse

This is the next iteration of the back plate upgrade system for Rigidbots, both Regular 10x10 and Big 12x16 (RB1's and RBB's). These back plates provide a common system for mounting the new upgraded power supply and main board inside of the printer on both the Regular and the Big. There are three STL files: The Power Side, the Board Side, and the Middle. The power supply and main board sides work on either size of printer, while the middle section is required only for the Big. The design includes a two-part system that does not require a cable extension for the power supply on the big, available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2301410. Use the tall riser part with the new locking cable LCD on a Big printer to ensure the cable reaches without an adapter. Designed to be printed on a 10 X 10 bed, so a regular printer can print its own upgrade. A big can fit all three parts at once. The files are Cura scaled and oriented for printing. The rest of the kit parts can still be found with the files these were remixed from, along with additional pictures and instructions: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1712645. Note the print and post-print instructions below. Print Settings: Printer: Rigidbot 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 mm Infill: 22% Notes: These are precision fit parts. Use of calibrated filament is strongly recommended for best results. I use the following calibration clips: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1037301. These prints work best on a well-leveled flat aluminum bed wiped down with Windex and covered with 3M blue painters tape. I have had no warping or tape peeling up while printing many sets of the previous iteration of these. A sharp 3/4" chisel with the bevel side down pops the prints off the bed at 40C reheat, helping to avoid damaging the tape. Post-Printing: Assembly instructions: Use the M3 bolts that come with the printers for assembly. They will self-thread in the holes. The assembly is quite strong and very solid when mounted on the printer back. The M4 bolts used for mounting the stock back cover are still used to mount these plates. The bottom back tubing needs to be removed from the printer, and the Anchors from the kit this is a remix of need to be inserted in the ends where it used to mount. Review the pictures in that post. Cable extensions are required for the power supply to the main board when configured for a Big printer. A version matching the aluminum production version with a shorter distance (by 3") between the power supply and main board can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2301410. It will require a Big printer to print the parts.
