# Razor v5 #\r\n\r\nI began with cwills75's "Retractable Razor Blade Utility Knife," a remix of the Talon V2 Utility Knife by HallPrecision.\r\n\r\nA series of modifications followed, and I'm now satisfied with my 5th redesign. I call it "razor v5." This utility knife is part of my EDC kit. The Razor v5 fits perfectly into my jeans' watch pocket.\r\n\r\n#WARNING#\r\n\r\n**Razor blades are sharp; be cautious! If you cut yourself, don't blame me!**\r\n\r\n\r\n# Features #\r\nSome key features I added include:\r\n - Accommodating serrated razors I use\r\n - Ensuring the blade tip doesn't protrude when in the closed position, preventing cuts to my jeans or fingers\r\n - Strengthening locking in both open and closed positions\r\n - Enlarging unlocking holes for easier access\r\n - Adding a grippy top surface for smoother blade insertion and removal\r\n - Providing two locking blade positions, as I rarely need to cut deeper than a few millimeters.\r\n - Introducing a stop position to prevent the blade from protruding beyond its fully extended position\r\n - Reducing slop of the blade as it mounts into the top male piece\r\n - Re-instating a keychain hole, although I don't plan on storing this on my keychain\r\n - Curving unlocking holes for comfortable one-handed operation with a thumb-nail.\r\n\r\n# Print Settings #\r\nI've experimented with various layer heights, achieving good results with 0.12mm, 0.16mm, and 0.20mm layers using a 0.4mm nozzle. I print with 100% infill and no supports.\r\nI tested PLA and PETG, preferring the more flexible feel of PETG.\r\n\r\n# Assembly #\r\n\r\n**Razor blades are sharp; be cautious! If you cut yourself, don't blame me!**\r\n\r\nTo assemble, I found it best to test fit without a razor, then slide the male into the female and extract/detract about 10 times until the action is smooth. Disassemble and install the razor.\r\n\r\n# Usage #\r\nWith good technique and practice, the blade can be opened and closed with one hand. However, I might refine v6 to make it easier for my wife and children to operate this safely.\r\n\r\n# Encouragement #\r\nI appreciate feedback as I develop v6. I'd love to hear how this design works for others.\r\n\r\nIf you like this design and want to encourage me to improve, consider buying new serrated razor blades using my Amazon.com affiliate link: <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GIIRTC?&_encoding=UTF8&tag=btv0d-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=1c388b04c4ef5d39b522d2e547fc1c1d&camp=1789&creative=9325">All-Purpose Serrated Utility Knife Blades</a><img src="//ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=btv0d-20&l=ur2&o=1" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />
