This replacement wheel rim is comprised of two distinct components, engineered to seamlessly integrate with the stock tire for a Razor RDS off-road scooter. Users can opt to print just one side or create an entirely new hub by utilizing both parts. The design accurately matches the original rim's specifications. However, it's essential to acknowledge that this replacement rim is not intended for use in extreme environments and should not be subjected to aggressive shock or high-impact landings. It has been specifically designed for on-road use only, and users assume all risk when utilizing this product. The material used for printing must possess exceptional strength and durability to handle substantial loads. In the initial attempt, carbon fiber PLA was employed, but it failed catastrophically within minutes due to excessive tire pressure side loads, as evident in the accompanying photo. A second iteration withstood stress for over two weeks before ultimately failing, albeit in a less dramatic manner. To enhance reliability, additional spokes were incorporated into the latest hub design. The PETG hub, equipped with eight reinforced spokes, has proven significantly more durable during testing and can withstand normal wear and tear from enthusiastic riders, including six-year-old users. Stock bearing and bolts are utilized to facilitate replacement of the hub. Print settings include a temperature of 240 degrees Celsius, a glass bed temperature of 50 degrees Celsius, adhesive glue stick application, and a cubic infill density of 90%. This project was successfully executed on a Creality Ender 3 3D printer, a reliable workhorse that consistently delivers high-quality results.
