Razor Holder
thingiverse
My new razor arrived sans clip, prompting me to design one that would securely fasten onto the edge of a glass bathroom shelf. The clip fits seamlessly on the right-hand end of the shelf, while an identical mirrored version is provided for left-handed users. Notably, the glass shelf boasted a 6mm gap between itself and the wall, necessitating the addition of a stabilizing block to prevent the razor from shifting forward when removed. Conversely, versions without this block are also included for individuals with shelves that lack gaps. The clip was specifically designed to accommodate an 8mm shelf, which appears to be a standard size. It's crafted from PETG material, although it's likely that various other materials could be used as well. I employed Autodesk Inventor to create the clip's design, and have made available the relevant files for anyone looking to make modifications. To facilitate modifications, I derived the left-hand models from the original right-hand part, which necessitates editing of the latter in order to effect changes. In designing the curved surface, I relied on fillets to achieve a smooth appearance – this does not compromise the integrity of the model. Unfortunately, I haven't had an opportunity to test the clip with other designs, but its relaxed fit should accommodate various models without issue. Fortunately, it has been in use for several months now without any problems arising.
