Ray5 Laser Z-Axis Screw Mount
thingiverse
These files are remixes from Shurtcut's 'Atomstack A5 "Z-Axis" Screw Adjustment', remixed to fit the screw placement of the carriage of the Longer Ray5 laser. You will want the screw from Shurtcut's Thing page, but the "Knob Holders" screw placement from his page are too wide for the Ray5. Hence these remixes. I also remixed the knob to make the handle slightly smaller, since at its original width it was snug against the Ray5's rounded carriage top, making using it difficult. The "V2" file has round holes (hopefully) exactly where the X-axis carriage mounting holes are on the Ray5, but the "Wide" file has elongated holes for sliding the mount one way or the other (mostly just in case my measurements aren't as accurate as I think they are on the "V2"). :) I printed all Shurtcut's original "Holders" multiple times with many different settings leaving the file upright as is, and I came away with a weak point on the support arms every time. Pivoting the file forward or back 90-degrees before slicing and printing alleviates the extremely weak points, but you want a somewhat more flexible print medium than the PLA I used because there is a squeeze point when placing the knob into the support that is apt to crack or even break the support arms. The Remix/Remix I did from Misken's file doesn't have that squeeze point if this print breaks or your worried about breakage (Thing 5206549). If you want to maintain the "UP" and "DOWN" printed on the top of the knob I suggest printing your first few layers slower. I also suggest printing right on the bed without a raft as the supports fill in the words. But ultimately that's a personal call, so if it's unimportant, print as you like best. Again, these are for the Ray 5, but you still need the screw from Shurtcut's page (Thing 4741591). And make sure to thank them, because that design is almost universal with small tweaks for different manufacturers carriage styles, which is pretty genius in my book!
