Ravens were a potent symbol of war in Viking culture, revered as harbingers of battle. According to legend, Odin, the All-Father, was said to possess ravens that brought him crucial intelligence from the earth below. He was also known as the Raven God, feared and respected by his people. We scored a major victory for the second week running by successfully 3D scanning a live animal on set. Scanning moving objects can be a daunting task, but we got an unexpected break with the raven, which remained remarkably still long enough to capture an exceptional 3D scan. We then imported this data into a 3D CAD program and gave it a meticulous polish. To achieve the level of detail required for our raven model, we opted to print it in black photopolymer resin on the Form 2 3D printer. This choice was driven by the printer's exceptional resolution capabilities, which enabled us to bring this magnificent creature to life with stunning fidelity.
