Raven flying wing elevon control horns
thingiverse
The control angle for the Raven Flying wing is a precise 26.6 degrees. These components should work seamlessly with any similarly swept wing aircraft. Control horns that perfectly match the sweep angle of the Raven (and Swift) EPP radio control flying wings are designed to be easily attached using M3 nuts and bolts, paired with blank plates on the opposite sides of the control surfaces to distribute the load from the nuts and bolts. To minimize weight, I plan to use nylon plastic M3 nuts and bolts, which will be super glued in place to prevent un-threading. Visit flyingwings.co.uk/wings/electric/raven-range.html for more information on the Raven Flying wing series. I highly recommend printing these control horns with 100% infill at maximum quality. Printing with support can help prevent overhangs from warping and weakening the control horn, a common issue that can arise during printing. I achieved optimal results by setting my layer height to 0.1mm resolution. For better results, you may want to consider printing the two control horns individually, depending on your printer's capabilities. To facilitate this, I have included them as separate files. The holes in the control horns are precisely 1mm in diameter, similar to many servo control horns. While they are suitable for small gauge wire based clevises, larger hardware will require drilling out the hole. To secure mine in place, I used superglue. These connectors use the same diameter hole as the control surface servo horn connectors and are ideal for use with small pins cut to length. You can either print four of these connectors and cut your tubes to the perfect length or else print two and use screw thread based hardware on the other end to achieve an adjustable length.
