Update 10-27-17 8:45 am - Just off the printer, my new 2.0 looks flawless. A slight roughness shows where it touched the print bed, but that's an easy fix with some sanding later. Update 10-26-17 2:30 pm - I've got a fresh Skull design, and after remixing, I'm convinced the result will be better. That's why I'm calling it 2.0. Update 10-26-17 9:00 am - Honestly, I'm not satisfied with this part yet. The skull is too small, the base is too big, and there's way too much excess material between them. Time to get editing. I've got an umbrella that's long enough to use as a walking stick. It has a straight handle. With Mary Poppins in mind, I decided to print and paint one of these guys for the end. My plan is to find a piece of threaded rod to connect the umbrella handle to the skull. The skull is hollowed out so I can fill it with epoxy to secure the bolt or rod. I'm thinking PC-7, but any two-part that won't get too hot should work just fine. I'll be printing in PLA, painting with acrylic, and then applying about 4-6 layers of rattlecan clear coat. How well this will work is anyone's guess, so wait until mine is finished before giving it a try.
