Rav4 Phone Cradle Phone cradle for 2013-2018 Rav4s – perfect fit for your vehicle We own a 2017 Rav4 and were frustrated with no good place to put our phone. One of our phones is always tethered to the dash, usually ending up on the passenger's lap. There are two cup holders in the front, but using one with a phone cup holder leaves one rider holding their cup. We tried keeping a phone in the shallow tray under the dash, even with Velcro, but it didn't work out. The solution was to create a custom phone cradle that fits perfectly into the triangular space in front of and to the right of the gear shifter. Our cradle accommodates two phones – an iPhone XR and an iPhone 6 plus – and has internal dimensions of 83 mm x 10 mm. There's also a cut-out for ring holders and other small items, like reading glasses. You can resize the slot using this Tinkercad file: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/594gf2bpY3L Make sure to un-rotate the cradle's 17˚ angle before printing, or you'll go crazy! This is my third attempt at designing a cradle. Version 1.0 was a disaster – it broke when we tried to remove the supports. Version 2.0 needed support in one tiny area and fell over during printing. Version 3.0 is a game-changer, with no need for supports thanks to an arch inserted into the design. It also cuts printing time by 40% compared to v1.0. UPDATE After using the cradle for a few days, we realized that it doesn't matter if you can see the screen or not – the phone can be upside down or right side up. We modified the design accordingly and now the phone sits completely vertical and upside down. A short lightning cable worked out perfectly for this setup.
