ratrig v-core 3 enclosure lid arm
thingiverse
I created this arm to replace the gas struts that neither had the force to lift or the length to lift very high. It's fairly adjustable, and you should be able to lift the lid fully perpendicular or more if desired. There's 5 degrees of negative bend where the two arms mate to keep the arms safely compressed when under load. When you lift the lid with one hand, you'll need to use your other hand to push the arm back for it to lock into position. I'd recommend using two arms for safety, and probably wise to use an M3 bolt in the safety catch if you're going to be sticking your head in the printer. I've found the arms plenty strong, but like anything these days use at your own risk. The design has some tight tolerances - probably want to ensure your printer is printing a 20x20x20 cube fairly accurately. If your printer is overextruding the arms may not spin very freely. BOM per arm 3 x M6x20 socket head cap screws 3 x M6 nylock nuts 4 x M6x12 socket head cap screws 4 x M6 drop in tee nuts optional M3 x 25+ for safety catch
