Rathbeg is a prominent ring barrow situated northeast of Rathcroghan Mound in County Roscommon, directly south of the N5 Road at 'Rathcroghan Cross Roads'. Located atop a high knoll, this barrow stands out as a distinctive feature within the Rathcroghan Complex. A carin is positioned at its center, encircled by a pair of concentric banks that are flanked on all sides by inner ditches cut into the perimeter of the knoll itself. The Rathbeg site was jointly funded by the National Monuments Service in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaelthacht, as well as the Heritage Council through the Royal Irish Academy/World Heritage Sites Directed Archaeological Research Grants. Additional data was provided by Roscommon County Heritage Officer and OSI, Discovery Programme, NUIGalway Archaeology Department.
