Ratcheting Reel

Ratcheting Reel

This is my take on an emergency/survival/pocket fishing reel that can be used with any small line you can find, and even a tiny strap if you can track one down too. The design features a very straightforward ratcheting mechanism with a push-button release. It's still a work in progress and I haven't had the chance to print it out yet because I just don't have the time. This reel consists of 9 plastic parts so far, and will require 27 x 3M screws of various lengths to put together. Once I've printed and tested it out, I'll be able to refine the design even more. 3/13/2019 UPDATE: I made some changes to the design. I added threading to the front end so you can attach it to a rod or stick as needed. I also uploaded the individual part files as STL and STP for anyone who wants to give it a try. 3/17/19 UPDATE: After finally printing it out, I was surprised by how big it is. Mechanically, it works fine, but I've found some ways I want to improve it. Since there are too many changes to justify updating this model, I'm going to start fresh on a new version and hope to have it finished within the week.
