Ratchet Screwdriver

Ratchet Screwdriver

I made this oldschool ratchet as a design study to realize a big vintage slot-screwdriver from steel. - I wanted to see what it needs to work properly. To publish a complete design I added a knob (just glue to the mechanism) and a hex opening for ¼" bits.Main parts are printed with PETG with 0,3mm layerheight. Print the pin, lever and screw with 100% infill and 0,2mm Layerheight. You will need a steelspring with 5mm diameter and (optional) a grubscrew M5 x 8mm.Be sure that the pin is smooth and it can move freely in the hole with the spring. It might be helpful to recut the M3 and M5 thread. For a good movement of the pin you will have to adjust the 5mm diameter spring to  an appropriate length (approximately 10mm).For securing the two parts of the mechanism I made a groove in the shaft for a M5 grubscrew. If needed I suggest to use a real M5x8 screw - the 3D-printed does not work good - its much too flimsy:-)I also added my Fusion 360 Drawings if you want make changes…Overall the ratched works fine!Update (4.1.2023):Made a more sturdy version of the ratchetpin and lever (Ratchetpin-new.stl, Lever-new.stl, Ratchetpin-Lever-new.gcode). The pin has a 2mm hole and you can press in (optional glue in) the lever. Also added an updated CAD-File.
