NASA RASSOR ChallengeThis design closely resembles existing RASSOR drum designs. At any given time, it has two scoops in place. As the drum rotates clockwise, regolith flows through a passage into the holding area and cannot escape until the drum rotates counterclockwise. The distance between the passage walls increases to prevent regolith from getting stuck. A narrow passage would cause the regolith to clog. Spines will aid in grinding and breaking down the regolith. Having spines will also soften hard regolith. Since the spine size remains constant as it reaches the next scoop, the drum won't become unbalanced. Dividers are used to ensure that regolith is not mixed between compartments. Round corners prevent regolith from accumulating in them. A lobe on the curved wing's end helps hold the regolith inside the drum. Graphene is used for production. The total weight will be between 1.5 kg and 2.5 kg for all four drums. The fill rate will be around a minimum of 70% before reaching the holding area for unloading. This design has a different internal geometry compared to existing RASSOR designs. It features more infill rates and stays filled. Less volume is taken up by interior covering, such as less material and more regolith. Different colors are used for components during assembly to distinguish parts and provide better explanations.Judging Criteria Calculation:Wall Width = 4 mmScoop Width = 67 mm * 2 = 134 mm (Maximum allowed = 175 mm at any given time)Number of Walls = 5Number of Scoops = 16Scoops per Section = 4Drum Length = 320 mm (Maximum allowed = 360 mm)Radius = 205 mm + 15 mm (spines/scoop) = 220 mm = 440 mm diameter (Maximum allowed = 450 mm)1 Section Area = 31730.87 mm^3Section Volume = 2125968.37 mm^3 = 2.1259 liters (each scoop) * 20 = 34.0155 liters.Fill Ratio = Minimum 70% (Minimum 50% fill ratio)X = 23.81 liters of regolith captured (minimum 17.6 liters)Metal used for building the product = Graphene metal (strongest and lightest metal)Weight = 0.16 mg / cm^3Product Weight = 449.5797 mg (approx.)
