The drum's diameter is a precise 435 mm, crafted from a high-quality aluminium alloy known as 6601. Weighing in at an impressive 4.952 kg, this drum boasts a metal sheet thickness of just 2mm, ensuring optimal strength and durability. A critical aspect of the RASSOR drum design is its fill ratio, carefully calibrated to fall within the range of 65-75%. This precise balance allows for efficient loading and unloading operations. The drum's internal layout features two distinct sections, each equipped with a total of three excavating sides. These sections are deliberately offset by an angle of 40 degrees, facilitating smooth material flow and minimizing congestion. To ensure even distribution of regolith within the drum, strategically positioned holes have been drilled into the separating cover plate. This ingenious design feature enables seamless movement of materials throughout the drum's interior. The spiral configuration of the drum is carefully engineered to retain regolith within its confines when rotating in a clockwise direction. Furthermore, this design effectively prevents the mouth of the drum from becoming clogged with accumulated material. When it comes time to unload the drum, a simple reversal of rotation allows the regolith to flow smoothly along the spiral path towards the exit, streamlining the unloading process and minimizing downtime.
