This versatile and lightweight bucket drum is crafted from aluminum alloy, featuring an expansive design of scoops that captures a substantial amount of regolith in a remarkably short timeframe. The wider scoops effectively prevent obstruction of the scoop opening, ensuring seamless operation. The entire exterior of the bucket is equipped with triangular shaped spikes that facilitate breaking up the regolith before entering, thereby preventing material from becoming stuck as it enters and exits. The interior structure was meticulously designed to maximize the fill ratio while also facilitating the release of regolith. The curved nature of the interior structure continually scoops the regolith as the bucket mines material, optimizing efficiency. The drum is effortlessly emptied by reversing its direction. Material is removed between each section to minimize weight and allow regolith to move freely between drums as needed, ensuring smooth operation even when one drum is filling more than the others. I firmly believe this design will be highly effective and consists of straightforward components that can be easily created. All necessary design requirements were met, including: Max bucket drum mass: 4.96 kg Max bucket drum diameter: 426.78 mm Max bucket drum length: 350 mm Internal Volume: 23.36 L Fill Ratio: Estimated 80%; 18.7 L of regolith capture Max width of scoops engaged at any given time: 87.5 mm on each drum This design closely resembles the current NASA RASSOR product, which features two drums per arm. The limited scoop width of 87.5 mm allows for simultaneous engagement of two drums, streamlining operations.
