RASSOR Bucket Drum Design
grabcad
My drum boasts six blades evenly spaced around its circumference. The innovative design draws inspiration from a Push Reel Mower, with the original structure intact to guarantee durability in harsh environments. Collecting regolith becomes effortless through the curved blades, which channel the gravel directly into the bucket volume within the drum. As the drum rotates, the collected gravel is stored safely inside. By reversing the rotation direction, the drum efficiently expels the accumulated gravel. Simulation results indicate a fill rate of approximately 75%. Further optimization may be achievable with extended simulation runs. All other criteria have been successfully met. Aluminum is currently being considered as the primary material; however, incorporating carbon fibers could potentially reduce weight even more significantly. A high-definition video showcasing the simulation in full resolution is available on https://youtu.be/04js7-SgnaE and https://youtu.be/5AUNI5oN0S4.
