RASSOR Bucket Drum

My innovative design seamlessly integrates version 1 and 2 of the RASSOR drum design, maximizing space efficiency. As the drum rotates, its scoops come into contact with the soil or regolith, expertly excavating it. The freshly unearthed material flows through an opening in the drum, entering a designated container where it is held until the drum reverses direction and releases its contents. To optimize performance, my design incorporates a self-contained area connected to a pathway leading directly to the drum's opening. This streamlined approach ensures maximum efficiency and adaptability. The construction process involves precision TIG welding of high-strength sheet metal aluminum, ensuring a durable and robust structure. Calculations for fill ratio and volume were carefully approximated using a measurement tool within CAD software and manual calculations. Key specifications include: Total length: 347mm Total diameter: 400mm Total mass: 4.55kg Total volume: 34 litres Fill ratio: approximately 60% Fill volume: approximately 20.4 litres Maximum engaged width at any given time: 170mm The pathway's width can be adjusted to suit the containing area or rock size, offering versatility in operation. While alternatives like plastics or composite materials could reduce weight, I prefer aluminum for its exceptional strength and weldability.
