Stephen C. Phillips recently discussed streaming music from an Android device to a Raspberry Pi on his blog (http://blog.scphillips.com/2013/01/using-a-raspberry-pi-with-android-phones-for-media-streaming/). His goal was to connect a rPi to an existing HiFi system for music streaming. In contrast, I desired a more portable version. I repurposed a USB speaker, the Cubite by Boyng, that I no longer used - it's only USB 1.1. After dismantling and remounting it into its case, I now have a 3W, reasonably sound-quality portable WiFi streaming speaker suitable for use throughout my house. However, obtaining a Cubite unit may be challenging for replication purposes. Regardless, I've provided the original SketchUp file for inspiration or modification for other projects. For those who have a Cubite unit: 1. Print all 3 skins. 2. Remove supports. 3. Insert Raspberry Pi into clipped sections. 4. Screw speaker board to front sections. 5. Attach speakers to back skin. 6. Secure back skin to top and bottom. 7. Enjoy WiFi music streaming wherever you have connectivity!
