RaspberryPi0W with eInk display beer tap handle (IoT tap handle)
thingiverse
This is a beer tap handle enclosing a Raspberry Pi Zero W equipped with a 104x212 pixel eInk display. A cutout in the side allows for easy access to plug a microUSB cable into the Pi to power it when you need to ssh in and update the display remotely. The Pi and display slide smoothly into place through the top, secured by an included cap that snaps on snugly. The walls of this tap handle are 4mm thick, designed to withstand the occasional stuck tap with ease. To assemble this project, you'll need a 3/8"-16 threaded coupler and a 1-1/8" long bolt, both available from Home Depot (see image). This combo comes in a convenient 2-pack from Everbilt. Alternatively, Ace Hardware sells a similar product with a larger diameter, but results may vary. To power this setup, I used a Raspberry Pi 0W paired with a 104x212 pixel e-ink display purchased from Amazon. The case features a clever internal design that accommodates the slightly protruding USB port and the connector pins for the display coming out of the back of the Pi. If desired, you can modify this design to include a threaded hole to eliminate the need for hardware, but using it will undoubtedly provide added strength.
