Raspberry Pi Zero v1.3 simple case
thingiverse
I made significant changes to the Pi Zero case and lid by red9987 and cfunseth in order to enhance their functionality and usability. I recreated the design using 123D Design, making substantial modifications along the way. Firstly, I added a power logo on the lid, which clearly indicates which of the two micro-USB ports is used for power supply, thereby eliminating any confusion that may arise from not knowing which one is the correct port to use. Additionally, I incorporated a hole above the LED, allowing users to easily see the power/activity indicator. Furthermore, a notch was added on the back of each cover, facilitating easier access and opening of the case later on. To prevent the Pi Zero from moving around excessively when attached with a mini-HDMI adapter, I introduced blocks to hold down the board securely inside the case. To enhance airflow for users who run overclocked boards but still want to maintain the gap between the IO headers, I designed a case top with a cut-out zero logo. This design allows for optimal air circulation while maintaining the desired aesthetic. It is crucial to note that printing the case bottom at 100% infill or adjusting your shells to ensure solid walls will significantly improve its structural integrity. The dividers between the USB and HDMI ports are relatively small, so without 100% fill they may become too brittle. I printed my case using PLA+, but it can also be printed successfully with regular PLA or PET. However, ABS prints might require scaling up to account for slight shrinkage of the parts when cooled. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Printrbot Printer: Printrbot Plus Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 100% Notes: The top covers can be printed at 20% infill to save on filament and time, while the bottom should be printed at 100% for optimal structural strength.
