Raspberry Pi Zero MAX7219 LED Case
thingiverse
I'm a YouTube reviewer with a small tech-focused channel and I wanted something in my studio to show off my subscriber count, so I turned to a Raspberry Pi Zero paired with an LED display because it's affordable and uses minimal power. The basic idea was to create a secure holder for the Raspberry Pi and the LED display without using screws, and so far it has worked out well. It's still a work in progress, and some fittings might be loose depending on the quality of your printer, but this design should print on any machine. There's nothing more frustrating than spending hours printing to find the parts don't fit! I've included plugs for the board pillars, but the cables should be enough to secure the board down. Please be kind if you use it - this is my first-ever design, and I'd love it if you dropped me a tweet @theNBguy. I'll also be uploading a full "how-to" video to my YouTube channel soon. This was printed using PLA 1.75mm on a Prusa i3. Version 1.5 has the display properly aligned from V1.4 on both Case and Lid, with rear text indentation made more prominent, and plugs included to secure the Raspberry Pi if needed. Note: Only use the plugs if you don't plan on removing the board as it may snap the fragile pillars when removed. Version 1.4 introduced text and vent holes on the rear, adjusted HDMI port and rear text with more of an indent, added a support for the Raspberry PI board to prevent pillar breakage, and slightly adjusted lid overhang to reduce the gap. Version 1.3 enlarged the pillars slightly for less movement and more strength, addressing an issue with the HDMI cutout causing difficulty installing the Raspberry Pi board. Version 1.2 made slight adjustments with placement of the Raspberry Pi to allow cables not to touch the left pillar, adjusted LED mount to make display flush against the case. Version 1.1 fixed the issue with pillars and made a slight change in how the LED display fits against the case, also creating the first basic version of the lid. Version 1.0 was the basic shell for the raspberry Pi - it worked well but had issues with MicroUSB ports hanging over the board causing difficult installation over the pillars.
