Raspberry Pi VGA Case with fan
thingiverse
I needed a custom case for my Raspberry Pi with a Gert VGA 666 adapter, but living in a scorching hot environment demanded that I take extra measures to keep my device cool. A fan was essential to help dissipate heat from the Raspberry Pi. To create a case that would accommodate both requirements, I decided to modify this existing design and incorporate a 25mm fan. The fan screw holes are precisely 2.5mm in diameter, making it simple to thread them using an M3 tap or screw. For those interested in replicating my project, I've made the Tinkercad files for the remixed top cover available here: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/2uPlvU2U2Qx A few notes on the Gert VGA adapter: The kit I purchased was an assembly-required version that worked flawlessly. (https://uk.pi-supply.com/products/GERT-VGA-666-hardware-vga-raspberry-pi) However, there's a minor issue with the assembly guide, which instructs users to solder through-hole resistors onto the top side of the board. This results in the assembled board being slightly taller than expected, posing a problem for case compatibility. To address this concern, I've identified three potential solutions: 1. Opt for the SMD version of the kit or a pre-assembled adapter. 2. Solder the through-hole resistors on the underside of the board (the same side as the SMD pads). 3. Modify the case design to feature an indentation matching the size of the board, rather than the original's narrow indentations. Since I have two Raspberry Pi boards at my disposal, I've chosen to implement remedy 2 by designing a custom adapter with soldered resistors on the bottom side. To complement this project, I've remixed a case for the existing adapter using remedy 3. To-do list: 1. Design a fan cowl similar to the one depicted in the final image.
