Raspberry Pi V2 or B+ parametric enclosure
thingiverse
This is a remix of the outstanding Case for Raspberry Pi model B+ and 2 B by Egil, offering multiple enhancements beyond the adjustable parameters. An adjustable depth above and below the Pi board allows for easy addition of multiple daughter boards, providing more flexibility for future upgrades. Additionally, an adjustable width ensures that printed clips can securely hold daughter cards in place. A variety of fixing screw options are available: choosing screws in corners as well as through the standard Pi mount holes provides extra stability and customization. Users also have control over visual elements such as the choice of a Raspberry Pi logo in the lid and different ventilation grille designs for improved airflow in the bottom. Moreover, users can decide whether to include access panels to the screw terminals on daughter cards or add a power socket for 3.5mm connectors. The main goal behind this design was to create an enclosure that would fit both an audio DAC card mounted above a Raspberry Pi B+ and an audio amplifier card installed below it, forming a compact RuneAudio server system. This specific assembly demanded careful consideration, especially when selecting the power components; I ended up utilizing a 9V to 5V buck converter to power the Pi but would advise against the DAC and this particular converter for future builds due to their high susceptibility to noise issues. To cater to users looking to create similar custom enclosures, STL files have been made available not just for standard Raspberry Pi assemblies but also for three-layer configurations such as the one showcased here. The provision of OpenScad files gives creators a flexible starting point to design and customize their own enclosure models according to specific needs and hardware setups. Working with Egil's original OpenScad file was particularly enjoyable, demonstrating his meticulous planning and clean coding approach. I followed these principles in extending his design by adding adjustable features that cater to individual preferences while still maintaining ease of assembly. Print Settings:
