Raspberry Pi headless server case

Raspberry Pi headless server case

thingiverse

This is a unique case for a raspberry pi 3 or 4 that's designed specifically for headless server use. It doesn't require a screen connected to the HDMI ports and can be accessed through SSH, SAMBA, FTP, etc. First, install the power supply inside the case instead of using an external one. I recommend using a 5V 4A switched power supply available on AliExpress, but you can also fit in a smaller one if needed. The power supply is mounted with a single 3mm bolt and nut on the fan side, while on the front side it's held into position by another 3mm bolt/nut or secured with the power cable lock. Connect the power cable to the case (there's also a hole for a 6mm switch to turn it on/off) and the 5V cable for the pi. Power the pi through its I/O connector, not the USB port - you'll need to create a custom cable with a female connector that has three pins: two for 5V and one for Ground. Next, install a 40x40x10 5V fan and connect its power cable to the supply's 5V output. Mount the pi itself using four 2.5mm bolts onto the holders, making sure USB and Ethernet ports face forward so they can be easily accessed (the labels will be on the fan side, which is at the back). The unique feature of these holders is that they have two pins - once you mount the pi on them, push the set into place until it clicks. Note that you won't be able to access the power supply's connector anymore without removing the pi again, so make sure all cables are correctly secured. Once everything is in position, attach the lids and don't forget to install the cable lock with two small screws. There's a second hole for cables if you want to chain boxes together instead of plugging each one into a power outlet, or output a 5V cable - just make sure to secure it with another cable lock. Required materials: * 1 x 5V 4A power supply * 1 x power cord * 8 x M3 melt-in nuts (5mm) * 8 x M3 bolts (6mm) * 4 x M2.5 bolts (10mm) and nuts * 2 x M3 bolt (6mm) and nut to mount the power supply (optional) * 1 x 6mm power switch (optional) * 1 x 40x40x10mm 5V fan (optional) * 3-pin female connector * Wires (suggested: red 10cm, black 10cm)
