Raspberry Pi DIN Rail Case
thingiverse
A creative reworking of 0110-M-P's fantastic Raspberry Pi enclosure is now available, featuring a DIN rail mount in place of the VESA mounting tabs. This innovative redesign allows the Raspberry Pi to be mounted on the rail vertically or sideways, with the SD card slot facing upwards and connectors facing downwards and forwards. As a result, it takes up significantly less space on the rail compared to other cases that mount the Pi flat against the rail. The enclosure attaches to the rail in the standard manner. Simply hang it over the top of the rail, then rotate it downwards and it will clip into place at the bottom. A front-accessible notch at the bottom enables easy release of the spring clip using a fingernail or screwdriver. Based on the Pi 3 bottom plate and universal Pi 2/3 top plate, this case is compatible with both the Pi 3 and Pi 2. The photos showcase it in use with a Pi 3. Like the original design, the board is secured into the enclosure using M3 x 6mm machine screws, while the two halves of the enclosure are secured together with M3 x 16mm machine screws. These screws self-tap into the plastic, and other similar-sized screws should work just as well. The small gaps between the parts of the spring clip are all at least 0.4mm in size, making it printable on most machines. The example shown in the photos was printed on a Prusa i3 Mk2 using Boots Industries orange PLA. Downloadable STEP files are included for anyone looking to make modifications to this design.
