Raspberry PI Case With Serial DB9 Connector
thingiverse
Please create more space for your Raspberry Pi setup. This design is based on the RPI House by OxyJin, as it's easy to assemble and disassemble while still connected to other peripherals. However, finding a pre-made case with extra headroom for Raspberry Pi expansions is difficult, especially one with room for serial connections. This final product in the photos serves as a device server capturing serial prints and saving them as individual PDF files. It also converts serial to Ethernet for network printing and can accommodate an added Real Time Clock (RTC) due to the extra space. A section of the drawing was modified to fit the AB Electronics RS232 and 1-wire peripheral. A new version with just the RS232 connector is on its way, which may be added alongside an RTC addon in future revisions. New pictures include the AB Electronics DB9 (DSUB) RS232 converter, a higher case to fit the RTC clocks above the RS232 board. A MOSHI Soft drawing and PDF for the new case will be added soon. The updated design is 1cm taller with the expansion slot removed, aiming for an enclosed "all in one" setup without external cables or boards. The CAD drawing uses common acrylic .093 panels from a home improvement store. Slots have been resized to 2.05mm width and all interlocking panels fit firmly. The top panel is slightly bowed for better stability, though the curve is subtle and only noticeable when viewed directly down the line. The setup uses a K40 40W Laser controlled by a Chris Circuits board at 10mA and Mach3 set to a speed of 300 units.
