Raspberry Pi case with PIFI Digi DAC+HIFI card attached
thingiverse
**Update 8/10/2018** This PIFI digi DAC+HIFI board works great with the Pi Zero W, and I might have to build a case for that one too. The Pi Zero W needs a hub to connect the usb jump drive, but it crashed on me a few times without one. I recently got my hands on a PIFI digi DAC+HIFI board to test, and after easily setting it up on a Pi 2B, Pi3B & a Pi3B+, I decided to create a custom case. The case fits perfectly in the Pi, thanks to an M3x10mm screw that lines up with the plastic mount above the RCA jacks on the DAC card. The sound quality is amazing with this board, and I really like the depth of sound it produces. When building the case, attach the Pi to the base first, then file down the small board mounts a little if needed. Put the top on the case around the RCA jacks on the DAC card first, and it should come together easily. I was using the Pi Musicbox project to play MP3 files from a usb drive, but I switched to Volumio after getting this board. The settings change for Volumio is none, as it just works. On Raspbian Stretch Linux, you'll need to make some changes in the config.txt file. Uncomment the line 'dtparam=i2s=on' and add 'dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus'. Comment out '#dtparam=audio=on' if it's there. The plastic case I used was esun Red PLA+, printed at .2mm layer height & 20% infill.
