Raspberry Pi Camera Case w/ NeoPixel Ring (12 LED)
thingiverse
Habales was a model that could accommodate both a Pi Camera and a 12 LED NeoPixel ring. However, it wouldn't fit the Prusa MK2 Camera Bed Mount - Higher Arm. After some adjustments, I managed to create a design that added legs to allow it to mount on the bed mount and increased its size slightly to prevent light from bleeding out. I also included the option to print a lens in transparent filament. I highly recommend using PETG or another heat-resistant filament for this purpose. When printing with orange ABS, the NeoPixel ring got extremely hot, causing issues. To mitigate this, I suggest printing the case with a high-heat filament like PLA or ABS. After testing, I found that a 75% brightness setting was sufficient for my needs when using white camera light. I created a simple Python script to get the system working. The Pi -> NeoPixel Pinout is as follows: Pi Pin 2 (5v) -> NeoPixel 5V DC Power, Pi Pin 6 (Ground) -> NeoPixel GND, and Pi Pin 12 (BCM18 - PWM0) -> NeoPixel Data Input. Note that the camera securely snaps onto the posts, ensuring it doesn't float loose. The lens is printed within my printer's tolerances, so some minor adjustments may be necessary to achieve a good fit. To print this model, I recommend using a Prusa i3 MK2 with settings such as: Rafts: Doesn't Matter, Supports: Doesn't Matter, Resolution: .2, Infill: 25%, and Notes: ABS/PETG or similar heat-resistant filaments for optimal results.
