I required a housing to safeguard my pi cam while mounted on my telescope. I customized the Pi cam slightly. I purchased a Svbony 1.25" to C12 CCD camera to eyepiece adapter, which also features a thread for standard telescope filters; I recommend a UV/IR filter. Additionally, I acquired an S mount M12 board lens holder crafted from ABS (there are die-cast metal ones that I do not suggest as they can short circuit things on the circuit board). The Lens holder mount was altered by filing a groove to accommodate the camera module plug on the circuit board. The mounting holes on the circuit board, positioned beside the camera module, were filed inward toward the camera to facilitate alignment with the lens holder mount and center it over the sensor upon completion. Two 2mm SS screws secured the mount, each paired with a fiber washer on either side; these screws will gently thread into the mount. The Pi cam lens is removed prior to assembling the lens mount to the board once all modifications are complete and the board has been cleaned of dust; this is when it can be done. This necessitated a housing that could protect the camera and board while working seamlessly with the lens mount and telescope adapter. I discovered a suitable case, Thing 92208 referenced here, featuring a nice design that snaps together upon completion as my starting point. This design was reworked to accommodate my assembly, resulting in the case shown here; it still snaps together without requiring hardware when done.
