Raspberry Pi Bumper Button Holder

Raspberry Pi Bumper Button Holder

thingiverse

This project attaches to the Raspberry Pi B+ Bumper case, allowing you to add a large red button. The button is versatile and can be used for almost any purpose - just write some code and you're ready to go. The Bumper case design can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:629886 I use my Raspberry Pi with my 3D printer. When it's turned on, the webcam and wifi module are running, and I don't want them to stay on constantly. So, when I'm done printing, I press the button and make the Pi go into sleep mode. When I want to start printing again, I press the button and the Pi wakes up. I prefer using a physical button next to my printer, which is why I do this instead of connecting to the Pi from my computer. The button is connected to pins 5 and 6. I set up a script that shuts down the Pi when you press the button or wakes it up (if it was previously shut down). For more information on how to write the code to make the button work, check out this link: http://www.barryhubbard.com/raspberry-pi/howto-raspberry-pi-raspbian-power-on-off-gpio-button/ The large red button I'm using with this design can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DZ8COWK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
