Raspberry Pi Bird Box
thingiverse
I had created a basic bird box that worked great, but my goal was always to be able to squeeze a Raspberry Pi inside. I finally managed this by using the lid to house everything. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to comment; I think I need to improve the power connector, and time will tell how it holds up. It's designed so that it can easily be removed if needed, and there is always the possibility of having a few boxes and moving the Raspberry Pi-enabled roof as required. However, be careful if birds are already nesting, as this may not be advisable. I have done a little YouTube video showing the project, but I've also listed all the parts/sources below. https://youtu.be/P_TNZwkMr6I For writing the image, I used Etcher: https://etcher.io/ The software the Raspberry Pi is running is MotionEyeOS: https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneyeos/ For instructions on configuring Wi-Fi for headless operation, there is a great guide at: https://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2017/04/manually-setting-up-pi-wifi-using-wpa_supplicant-conf/ For those interested, the parts I used were: The right-angle adaptor I used was from eBay: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?icep_id=114&ipn=icep&toolid=20004&campid=5337763327&mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2F322733325130%3FViewItem%3D%26item%3D322733325130 No IR camera: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?icep_id=114&ipn=icep&toolid=20004&campid=5337763327&mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2F152988718955%3Ful_noapp%3Dtrue IR LED units: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?icep_id=114&ipn=icep&toolid=20004&campid=5337763327&mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2FInfrared-LED-IR-Light-3W-850-For-Raspberry-Pi-Camera-Module%2F152654469612%3Fhash%3Ditem238aea59ec%3Ag%3AnSIAAOSwu2VZYUhw
