Raspberry Pi Arcade Stick Console

I needed to find a free and well-documented all-in-one arcade stick Raspberry Pi project plan - so I designed my own. This project uses a Raspberry Pi and an iPac2 keyboard emulator, making it possible to function as a console or just a joystick depending on user preference. The top and bottom of this arcade stick are made from laser-cut plexi, while the side supports were 3D printed. The cost for all materials was approximately $150. See the link here for parts list and ordering information: http://tinyurl.com/piarcadestick Instructions for building your own arcade stick follow: Designing the top and bottom plexiglass components involved using Illustrator, which was based on button layouts found in Sega Astro City cabinet designs (for player one). These layouts are known to be very comfortable. I would like to thank slagcoin, a valuable resource for everything you might need to know about joysticks: http://slagcoin.com/joystick.html. The 3D printable side supports were created using Tinkercad online, measuring three inches high but adjustable to accommodate personal preference. This design allows easy access to the Pi and iPac without obstructing playability. There are no mounting holes on the bottom plexi because I opted for Scotch fasteners (plastic velcro) to secure the side supports. See the parts list for more information regarding these components. I chose machine screws to attach the tops due to their rounded design, which feels more comfortable during prolonged gameplay. Additionally, those around the joystick don't cause any issues, even after extended play sessions. Finally, see the parts list for rubber bumpers - a nice touch on the bottom that helps keep your joystick and table secure on a surface while playing.
