Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen Pod for Ford F250-F550 99-07
thingiverse
A custom overhead console/pod designed specifically for a Ford Superduty Truck to hold a Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen up to the roof. Used as both a rear view mirror and Android Auto head unit, this innovative design makes navigation and entertainment effortless. The top side of the pod features a hole that perfectly aligns with an existing one in the crossmember of the roof. A threaded insert (nutsert) is used to provide a sturdy 1/4-20 threaded mounting point, ensuring a secure hold for the touchscreen display. To channel air through the back, vents are strategically placed, allowing cool air to circulate over the DC/DC converter as shown in the accompanying videos. The 4 mounting ears of the pod should be printed laying down to maximize strength. Provisions are made for flanged nuts (installed backwards) which can be secured with a small dot of silicone. Flat head screws sit flush with the outside of the enclosure, but overtightening may cause the case to split. Black oxide screws and nuts were used in this project, available from McMaster-Carr: https://www.mcmaster.com/#96640a166/=1cnjh7d https://www.mcmaster.com/#93083a102/=1cnjhii To witness the installation process, visit these YouTube links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Puk_pzMGd7c (This video outlines the hardware and installation process.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFXxtxoi_pc (This video showcases the wiring and code used to switch cameras and adjust brightness.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpzkHvQA-t8 (This final video displays the 3D printed camera pods and display pod.)
