Raspberry Pi 5 case (with various options)
thingiverse
Raspberry 5 case, which assumes the standard Active Cooler is fitted, and supports the following variants:Standard base: when using a microSD card (and no SSD)SSD base: when using an SSD (and no microSD card)Pi case - with IO access: giving access to GPIO, display/camera ports and microSD slotPi case - without IO access: fully enclosed with no I/O access, but access to microSD slotThe case is a snug fit and you need to ease the Pi in starting from the HDMI/USB-C port side. The base then clips together to hold everything in place. If needed, you can secure the Pi to the top section mounting lugs with M2 or M2.5 screws. Or alternatively, you can secure the Pi to the top section with M2 or M2.5 standoffs (screwed through the Pi board into the mounting lugs) and then use the standoffs to secure the base section to the top section with M2 or M2.5 screws through the base holes. Note, if using M2.5 screws/standoffs it is advisable to tap the holes (incluing those through the Pi board) first. The case was originally designed for use with the Pimoroni NVMe SSD Base board which mounts beneath the Pi. I used 5mm M2.5 standoffs to attach the Pi to the mounting lugs (having tapped the M2.5 threads) then attached the NVMe Base board onto the standoffs through the holes on the case base. The parts do not require supports except for the “SSD base” which requires tree supports, as the Pimoroni board is lightly bigger than the Pi board which resulted in a small overhang in the model to accommodate this. I printed in standard PLA with a 0.2mm layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle.=======================================================Update: strengthened the pillars between the USB and Ethernet ports which had a tendancy to snap off when pushing the Pi in place.Further update: following feedback recieved, I have increased the gap surrounding the Pi to improve air flow around it (and any SSD) and improved access to the microSD card slot.
