Raspberry Pi 5 (and 4B) Case

thingiverse

Raspberry Pi 5 case, with compatibility for both Raspberry Pi models 4B and 5. Has cover option for attaching 30mm fans.Note that I have provided a V2 of the design at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6248315 that provides a case and cover options that can be snapped on without requiring the use of screws. The V1 and V2 components are otherwise compatible and interchangeable. The OpenSCAD file provides you the ability to personalize and/or modify the design to meet your specific needs.See https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6260580 for mounting brackets and feet that can be attached to the case.Designed using official Raspberry Pi 5 and 4B physical specifications. Also leveraged experience with a variety of RPi 4B cases I have tried or used. This is an open design, where I have provided the OpenSCAD file.Differences between the Raspberry Pi model 4B and 5 that affect the case design include: - No external audio port on RPi 5 - LED and power button added to RPi 5 - USB and ethernet ports relocated on RPi 5 - Two camera cable connectors on RPi 5 - Increased power consumption by RPi 5 requires better airflowAdditional design features: - Allows for easy insertion of RPi into case, as well as easy removal (this is not true with some case designs) - Micro HDMI and USB-C power connectors are flush with outside of case, making it easier to use any USB-C or micro HDMI cable (this is a problem with some cases) - Slot for jumper wires to connect to bus with opening on the side so that jumpers can not pull out when cover is secured (most cases simply have a top opening in the cover, where jumpers can too easily come loose) - Easy to remove cover without pulling out jumpers attached to bus (some cases require that the wires are run through the cover) - One slot in cover can be used for both camera cables - Cooling vents on top and bottom - Ability to add personalized text on case by modifying SCAD file - Uses four M3 (12mm or longer) screws for cover attachment - The wider openings for connectors enable increased airflow - cover option for 30mm fan mount (screws spaced 24mm apart) - optional feet for bottom of case - optional mounting brackets - Easy to printPictures currently show usage with a RPi 4B. This has not yet been tested with an actual RPi 5. May update when an RPi 5 is available for testing, hopefully in 2023 as soon as I can get one. May add some options for additional mounting points in the near future. I have started replacing all of my RPi 4B cases with these while I wait for my RPi 5s.Have also included a number of optional attachment brackets and feet that can be screwed onto the case for specific needs.Print recommendations: - Slice cover without supports - Slice case with supports - Use PLA, PLA+ or ABS - Use 0.2mm line quality - Use 20% or higher infill
