Raspberry pi 4 spectrum case
prusaprinters
I grew up with a C64 , but always wanted a Spectrum also, I had one as an adult since, but wanted to create one for myself using an emulator and a raspberry pi.Then I thought why not have it emulate everything the pi is capable of , so hence the choice of designing this around the Pi 4you will need some leads to extend the hdmi and the usbc power sockets links belowUSB-Chttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Maxhood-Extension-Extender-Charging-Nintendo-Up-Angle-USB-C-Cable/dp/B08NYGJ3NM/ref=sr_1_12?crid=3NHM5M9SR45T4&keywords=usb%2Bc%2Bto%2Bextension&qid=1653413465&sprefix=usb%2Bc%2Bto%2Bextension%2Caps%2C98&sr=8-12&th=1HDMIhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XJ5LWGL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1I was hoping to find a surface mount option so I opted for these and I will hot glue them in.The top was the most demanding had to use support, which took 9hrs to print, I should have opted for support everywhere opposed to build plate only , as you will see in the photo the ports went a bit wrong.the base also needs support everywhere, but the print task isnt so large.I design the enclosure to house a r-pi4 and a battery, I had a battery that would fit but unfortunately that bit the dust and now Im looking to source another that will fit the same footprint. The pi mounts to the base with some self tappers (M2 I believe)The case screws together with self tappers also, or you could tap the mounts and use machine screws. The keyboard pops into the upper part of the case , it will need some form of adhesion , super glue or hot-melt.This is kind of a work in progress, Im looking at an alternative idea of creating a slightly bigger enclosure and create a keyboard matrix within the case, but only run a pi zero and have it run a spectrum emulator. I have some designs started but still playing with the idea for now, watch this space.
