Raspberry Pi 4 Case with 80mm Fan and 2.5 inch HDD Bay NAS/Game server
thingiverse
I purchased a new PI to serve as a NAS server for my virtualization cluster, with the intention of keeping the CPU cool and housing a 2.5 inch SSD/HDD. This design satisfies both requirements, providing adequate cooling and a tidy enclosure. To regulate the temperature, I chose a Noctuna 5v 80mm fan that operates quietly while moving a considerable amount of air. Although the fan jet may not be essential in this context, it has proven beneficial in other projects by directing airflow more effectively. The design allows for effortless swapping of SD cards without disassembling the entire setup. Moreover, there is ample space between the Pi and HDD to facilitate airflow beneath the Pi and above the HDD. I designed the case to utilize fan screws for securing both the fan and the Pi/HDD carrier to the fan body. This approach ensures a secure fit and works well even when no SSD/HDD is present. Update 20 November 2019: A fan shroud has been added, inspired by TheMonkeyStink's design on Thingiverse.
