Raspberry Pi 3 outdoor camera
thingiverse
I'm looking for a super versatile weather-proof case that will protect my Raspberry Pi camera projects perfectly. I need something that's really easy to use and can withstand any harsh conditions. First, I'll need a glass lens that's 33mm in diameter - I found one on DX.com that comes in a pack of 10. It's perfect for my needs! Next, I'll require a 5mm heat-set threaded insert, which I can find at McMaster.com. This will give me the extra support I need to make sure everything stays secure. For the screws, I'm going to use an M5x12mm socket head bolt - it's strong and reliable. To power my Raspberry Pi camera, I'll be using a BEC (Buck-Boost Converter) from Adafruit.com. It's easy to use and will give me the extra juice I need to keep everything running smoothly. I also need a MicroUSB male connector, which again can be found at Adafruit.com. This will allow me to connect my camera to my Raspberry Pi easily and securely. For the SD card holder, I've designed it using Ninjaflex 25% fill - it's strong and durable, and will keep my SD cards safe and secure. Here are some updates on the project: * On October 13th, 2016, I fixed a pivot on Post.stl that was causing issues. * On October 14th, 2016, I added a ball-and-socket swivel mount to make it easier to adjust the camera orientation. * On October 22nd, 2016, I linked to the BEC and BEC cover so people can find them easily. * On October 24th, 2016, I wasn't happy with the BEC cover, so I carved out the back shell to make room for it. I also adjusted the front shell to make it easier to assemble the Micro USB connection. * On November 4th, 2016, I did a major overhaul of the design to make it easier to disassemble and repair. The new design includes a snap-on front shell and a snap-on camera mount that's refillable, so people can change the camera orientation easily. * On November 5th, 2016, I adjusted the post size for the camera mount to make sure everything fits together perfectly.
