Raspberry Pi 3 Case - laser cut
thingiverse
Inspired by the Pibow enclosure, I decided to create a case out of layered acrylic that leaves the middle around the chips and GPIO pins open for improved airflow and to prevent pushing down on top of the board. This design wraps around the outside of the Pi. My creation intentionally leaves one side mostly open to provide extra room for power and HDMI connections. I tested several other cases, but they had a problem with the sleeve of both the USB cable and the HDMI cable getting stuck in the side before plugging in fully. With my design, that issue is resolved! The Raspberry Pi fastens to four points on the second layer of the case using counter sunk bolts through holes in the first layer. You'll need four small 3mm bolts to attach the Pi to the case and another four 3mm bolts for the corners. Yes, the Pi logo might be a bit flashy, but I needed venting holes, so why not add some flair? Feel free to remix this design and swap out the logo with a hex pattern or something equally tasteful. This design has only been tested on a Raspberry Pi 3. Be aware that it may not work with other devices.
